Instead of spending alot of money on store products, try making your own home remedies. We all have herbs in our kitchens that can help a variety of conditions, from bad breath to motion sickness and from controling ants to deworming your pets. Below is a list of some home remedies.
For bad breath, you can suck on a clove or two. The clove gives a fresh scent and taste to your mouth. Your breath will smell sweet!
You can use apple cider vinegar, right from the bottle, to the skin area where shingles is located. Apply four times during the day and three times during the night if awake. The burning and itching feeling on the skin should leave within a few minutes after the vinegar is applied. Many people swear by this treatment declaring that shingles heals quicker from the regular use of apple cider vinegar.
For bladder infections, mixing one teaspoon of olive oil with one teaspoon of garlic juice in a glass of warm water should help eliminate the bacteria responsible. Drink mixture three times a day, before meals. Note that you can also substitute cranberry juice for the water if the infection is especially stubborn.
A treatment for Poison Ivy, is to use equal amounts of apple cider vinegar and water. Gently dab the mixture onto the affected skin areas, without rubing and allow to dry. Apply as needed for quick relief.
An old-fashioned remedy for muscle cramps is to take two teaspoons of honey with each meal. If this is done on a regular basis, then the cramping should diminish within a couple of weeks. This has proven to be effective in cases of cramping in the feet and legs during the night.
You can make your very own canker sore treatment by mixing one teaspoon of baking soda with a half cup of warm water. Use mixture as a mouth rinse several times a day, concentrating after meals and before bedtime. You should feel some relief within 24 hours and the canker sores will usually clear up completely within approximately three days.
You can make an easy cough remedy mixture, by slowly boiling one lemon for approximately 15 minutes. This will soften the lemon and the rind ,so that it will be juicier. Then cut the lemon in two parts and extract the juice with a lemon squeezer. Put the juice into an 8 ounce glass. Add two tablespoonfuls of glycerine. Stir the lemon juice and glycerine mixture well, then fill the glass with honey. Note that the glycerine can be purchased from your local pharmacy.
Old-timers used to grind up approximatelly 100 cloves and then literally cook them in just a tiny bit of water (less than ΒΌ cup) until they made a nice syrup...then they would soak a cloth and put it in mouth and believe it or not, the pain lessens greatly! of course, you should also see a dentist. But this will help until you can get there.
Epsom salts can be poured around the base of a rose bush which will produce beautiful blooms. The epsom salts contain magnesium, which helps enforce blooming. You can also use Epsom salts on tomato plants. Your crop will be better than ever!
You can stop ants from invading your house,by sprinkling a few crumbled bay leaves on windowsills. If ants go for your flour and sugar bins, place a couple of bay leaves inside. Replace bay leaves every month.
An old-fashioned remedy for deworming pets: use full amount on dogs and 1/4 amount on cats. Mix one teaspoon of dried, powdered rosemary and one teaspoon of wormwood with 1/2 teaspoon of fresh ground garlic. Mix well and separate into 4 portions. Give your pet a portion mixed in with their food, four times a day. Repeat this for approximately 4 days and your pet should be completely dewormed.
For nausea or upset stomachs, you can mix two capfuls of lemon juice with a 4-8 ounce glass of warm water. This will break up the acid in your stomach and take away the nauseau.
